Artists in our Oklahoma Art Gallery
The Art of Larry
Banks
Larry Banks, an art teacher in
the public school systems for over 40 years,
will be on exhibit for the month of September.
Larry studied at Pittsburg State University
(Kansas) where he earned both a Bachelor's and
Master's degrees in art. His drawings and
paintings hang in private collections in Kansas,
Missouri and Oklahoma.
Larry works mainly
with water media in a realistic style with
inspiration coming from old buildings (he calls
them mature), old vehicles and not but not
least, his students!
With both his
residence and studio located in Depew, Ok.,
Larry is working to perfect his "stick and ink"
technique. This is literally art done with a
stick, real ones from his surroundings, and ink.
They are both dramatic and aesthetically
pleasing. Larry will be on hand September
11th at the Sixth Annual Harvest to demonstrate
and sign his work. This is an opportunity to own
some really fine art from a fine Oklahoma
artist!
In October!
The works of Linda Rous will be on display
throughout the month of October with a special
Meet The Artist Event on Oct. 9th
Meet The Artist Linda
Rous! Our October artist, Linda Rous,
will be here to meet the public. Also known as
Tiger Woman, Linda claims her heritage from her
maternal grandmother (both grandparents were of
Indian heritage).
The Mohawk were the
most feared warriors during times of war. At
their peak of population in America, they
spanned from New York into the Ohio Valley.
Although an artist known for her paintings of
Indian wildlife, Linda has a new venture with
her dolls. These dolls, made entirely by hand
with a knife, are each unique and one of a kind.
The "no face" dolls carry a message -- no face
is to say that what is in your heart is far more
important than what makes up your physical
appearance. Linda has pieces in
permanent collection at the Marland Mansion,
Oklahoma Heritage Hall of Fame as well as many
national galleries . She has been featured in
numerous national and state publications and
continues to travel the country carrying her
message of peace, natural healing, new
beginnings and happiness with her work. Don't
miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to meet
Linda and view her collection of personal works!
