| Artist Name: Michelle Elizabeth
Himes-McCrory
Michelle Elizabeth Himes-McCrory was born September 20, 1978 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Her childhood was laden with frequent relocation and as a result she has lived in many states around the country including Oklahoma, Texas, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Utah and Oregon. From a very early age she knew that she wanted to become an artist and has never been able to consider any other profession.
Michelle has family throughout the United States, but the majority of them live in the state of Oklahoma. A desire to be closer to her family led her back to her birthplace in Stillwater where she currently resides. She is the great-granddaughter of Frank "Pistol Pete" Eaton - cowboy legend and current mascot of Oklahoma State University, University of Wyoming and New Mexico State University.
The artist currently works primarily in watercolor painting, but she has also been working in printmaking for many years as well. Her work deals predominantly with memory and with the experiences gained from her memories. She uses a mix of old photos, new photos and her imagination to create her work. Her pieces have a sense of mystery, mysticism and an ethereal quality to them.
Michelle's higher education began with two years study at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon and she is currently finishing her art degree at Oklahoma State University. After graduation she will be opening a fine art gallery in Stillwater, Oklahoma. |
