- 50 Penn Place Gallery, Oklahoma City, Ok.
- Holland Street Gallery, Belleville, Tx.
Skip states about her work:
I am often in awe of the colors in an Oklahoma sunset. I love to watch light,
filtering through a window, literally penetrating an object in its path. I
suppose these are a couple of the reasons I first picked up a paint brush, but
there are a million and one reasons why I continue to paint.
I paint primarily in oils on linen panels, but occasionally use different
techniques and approaches. If a landscape, still-life, figure, animal or flower
moves me with its colors, shapes, shadows, lights, temperatures, or just gives
me a 'feeling'; I want to paint it. I then set out to capture that certain
element which initially intrigued me so that I can pass the experience on to
you.............the viewer.
Oklahoma Winery Celebrates Centennial with
‘Oklahoma Gold’
One of Oklahoma’s oldest wineries is toasting the centennial
with a new wine that celebrates 100 years of statehood.
Oklahoma
Gold is the newest wine in a trilogy of Oklahoma-themed wines Tidal
School Vineyards has produced. This newest member is a white wine
with a crisp, fruity sweet taste. President and CEO of Tidal School
Gary Schroeder said the wine is a companion of the winery’s two best
selling wines – Oklahoma Sweet and Oklahoma Sunset.
Oklahoma Sweet is a red wine that is 85 percent Cabernet Sauvignon.
It was Tidal School’s first creation and now is the best-selling
Oklahoma wine statewide, Schroeder said. He added Oklahoma Sunset is
a blend of blush wines with a light fruity taste. This picnic-style
wine is perfect before or during dinner.
Now, Oklahoma Gold completes the trilogy by adding a white wine to
the mix. The wine’s label celebrates Oklahoma’s economics by
depicting picturesque wheat fields ready for harvest and a pump jack
unit producing oil.
Schroeder said Oklahoma Gold is a perfect choice for people who
don’t enjoy dry wines and is a result of round three of Tidal’s
Virtual Winery investment program.
“It is made in the tradition of colder wine growing areas such as
Germany or Missouri that produce flavorful and distinctive sweet,
white wines,” he added.
As our state celebrates its first 100 years, Schroeder reflected on
how the wine industry has developed in Oklahoma through the years.
“The state now boasts more than 40 licensed wineries and many
vineyards,” he said. “Wineries provide an important tourism draw for
our state. We strive to create opportunities for individuals to
experience a taste of Oklahoma’s history and fine wines at our
winery.”
Tidal School Vineyards is located in the old Tidal School, listed on
the National Register of Historic Places, which was built in the
1920s by oilman John D. Rockefeller for his worker’s children. A
million dollar conversion and restoration project has transformed
the historic school into Oklahoma’s premier winery and vineyard.
Tidal School Vineyards is a former recipient of the Redbud Award as
Oklahoma’s outstanding new attraction.
